06: Training course for the students of the School of Communications and Journalism (Baranovichi, Belarus) - Part 1

Training course objectives:

to practice information gathering and information processing;to get acquainted with the organization of work at the editorial offices of the biggest Polish daily newspapers and with the process of a newspaper issuing;to get acquainted with the methods of information gathering and information processing at the news agencies (Catholic News Agency (KAI), Radio News Agency (IAR);to produce/publish a 4-page newspaper issue


Methods:

The course participants were divided into three groups, each group was to produce its own 4-page newspaper. Each group was working under the supervision of a trainer – an experienced Polish journalist. Visits to the editorial offices of different newspapers (the two biggest Polish daily newspapers “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Rzeczpospolita”; editorial offices of the Catholic weekly „Gość Niedzielny”, of the Legionowo local weekly „To i Owo”, of a magazine “Novaja Polsha”) and the lectures conducted by the media specialists served as a source for individual information gathering.
At the end of the course the invited guests gave a thorough evaluation of the content, layout & design of the produced newspapers.
